Tech College Gives KLH Award of Excellence

Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) has presented KLH Industries with their 2013 Award of Excellence. The award recognizes KLH’s dedication to “building bridges between industry and education.”

Since August 2012, KLH has partnered with WCTC to trial a new approach to metalworking apprenticeships in Wisconsin. This new apprenticeship program, called NIMS, uses competency-based testing over the current time-based model.

“The NIMS pilot program would have never gotten off the ground without a willing dialogue between business and education,” says Kenneth Heins, CEO of KLH Industries. “There’s a lot of credit to be spread around.”

KLH is honored by this recognition, and would like to thank all of the students, teachers, administrators, committees, and organizations involved in the continuing improvement of the metalworking trades in Wisconsin. Before we can build the parts, we must build the people.
